*Understanding Sciatica*- the book is finished!
"Absolute gold... there's not many anatomy/physiology books that one can't put down"
Thanks for reading the 68th edition of my newsletter. This newsletter tracks my work on lumbar nerve root syndromes aka sciatica.
A couple of years ago I finished a rough-n-ready pdf book on sciatica called Sciatica: The Clinician’s Guide.
The book was really, really popular. It hit the sweet spot of illuminating so many confusing clinical presentatons (“Oh, that’s why that happens!”) while also just being a really good read.
And the reception to the book will always be one of the defining moments of my life. I couldn’t believe that not only were people buying it but they were also reading it - cover to cover! - and even recommending it to their friends.
I took the book off the market over a year ago because I knew it could be made even better. Prof. Annina Schmid agreed to help me with the task. We re-wrote every sentence, we re-drew every illustration and we designed a beautiful cover. Oh, and we gave it a new name - Understanding Sciatica.
And now it’s finished.
I think you’ll really like it!
If you want to understand sciatica - the anatomy, the nerve injury, the disc herniations - it should be exactly what you’re looking for. It’ll help everything to ‘click’ so that you know what you’re seeing in clinic. It’ll allow you to discuss this confusing condition with your patients and colleagues with confidence. Plus, it’s just a really good read.
